Ingredients:
500 grams green beans or baguio beans, end trimmed
8-10 smoked bacon strips
olive oil
salt and pepper to taste

Procedures:
Part 1
1. In a pot, boil water with salt then blanch green beans for a minute.
2. Drain and rinse in cold water. Set aside

Part 2
1. Wrap a bacon slice around 5-8 pieces of green beans.
2. Repeat the step for remaining pieces then place in a baking pan.

Ingredients:
500 grams togue(mung bean sprouts)
1 carrot, julienned
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, minced
2 tablespoons oyster sauce or soy sauce

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
15-20 pieces spring roll wrapper(lumpia wrapper)
cooking oil for deep frying
1/2 cup dried shrimps(optional)

Procedures:
Part 1
1. In a pan, heat oil then saute garlic and onion.
2. Add dried shrimps then continue sauteing for a minute.
3. Add tofu and carrots then cook for another minute.
4. Season with oyster sauce and pepper then mix well.
5. Add beansprout then cook for 2-3 minutes or until cook. Let it cool and set aside.

Part 2
1. Place 1/4 cup of veggies in a line shape at the middle of the wrapper.
2. Fold over the bottom edge to the center then fold the two sides towards the center and roll.
3. Use a bit egg to seal the last edge. Repeat until all wrapped up.

Part 3
1. In a frying pan, heat oil deep enough that wrapped lumpia is half-submerged.
2. When the oil is hot enough, deep fry lumpia until golden brown and crispy.
3. Drain on paper towel then serve with spicy vinegar.

Ingredients:
10 pieces chicken fillet
10 slices cheddar cheese(optional)
10 slices sweet ham, sliced halves
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
10 pieces spring roll wrappers(lumpia wrapper)
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup evaporated milk(optional)
1 cup bread crumbs(optional)
canola oil for frying

Procedures:
Part 1
1. In a bowl, combine beaten eggs and milk. Mix well.

Part 2
1. Pound the meat using meat pounder, season with salt and pepper.
2. Arrange ham and cheese strips over the meat and roll the meat.
3. Dip meat in egg mixture then dredge in flour and then dip again in egg mixture.
4. Brush the spring roll wrapper with egg mixture then place chicken roll on top.
5. Wrap and roll the wrapper then seal the edges with a bit of water.
6. Dip again each roll in egg mixture then roll in bread crumbs. Set aside.
7. Repeat the procedures for remaining pieces.

Part 3
1. In a pan, heat oil then fry each roll for 3 minutes or until golden brown.
2. Drain on paper towel then serve with dip.

Lumpiang Shanghai

1/4 cup soy sauce
2 teaspoons ground pepper
2 tablespoons salt
1/2 cup shrimp(peeled and minced) or ground beef,(optional)

Procedures:
Part 1
1. In a large bowl, combine all the filling ingredients then mix well.
2. Place 1 tablespoon of filling in a line shape at the middle of the wrapper.
3. Fold over the bottom edge of the wrapper to the center.

Turon Saba

Filipino Style Recipe: turon de saba is another typical Filipino meryenda(mid-afternoon snack). Turon is normally consists of  cardava banana and jackfruit strips wrapped in lumpia wrapper then deep fried with a coating of caramelized brown sugar.

Ingredients:
12 pieces ripe cardava bananas(saging na saba), cut into lengthwise
1 cup Jackfruit strips(langka)
Spring rolls or lumpia wrappers
brown sugar, spread on a plate
1/2 cup brown sugar for cooking
oil for deep frying

Procedures:
Part 1
1. Roll banana in sugar then arrange 2 pieces of coated banana in the middle of the wrapper.
3. Add 2 strips of jackfruit on the top of banana.
4. Wrap and roll the wrapper, use a bit of water to seal the edges.

Part 2
1. In a frying pan, heat oil deep enough that wrapped banana is half-submerged.
2. When the oil is hot enough, sprinkle and spread sugar in the pan.
3. Add wrapped banana, deep fry until golden brown and crisp. Flip to coat evenly.
4. Make sure the wrapped banana is coated with caramelized sugar. Add more sugar if needed.
5. Drain on paper towel then serve.

Pork Siomai(Shumai)

Filipino Style Recipe: Siomai(Shumai) is a tasty dimsum of Chinese that is now popular for many Filipinos. There are many varieties of siomai like pork, beef, prawn or shrimp, etc but pork is the most popular . The secret in having a soft, tasty siomai is that the ground meat should have some fat otherwise siomai will be too tough. Here’s the recipe for pork siomai:

Ingredients:
1 kilo ground pork(with a bit of fat)
1/3 cup turnips(singkamas), minced(optional)
3/4 cup carrots, minced
2 medium onions, minced
bunch of spring onions or leeks, minced
1 raw egg
5 tablespoons sesame oil
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
100 pieces wanton/siomai wrapper

Procedures:
1. Mix all the ingredientsin a bowl.
2. Spread 1-2 tablespoon of mixture on each wrapper. cover and seal.
3. Using a steamer, boil water and brush the plate with oil
4. When the water is starting to boil, arrange the siomai in the steamer and let stand for 15-20 minutes(Time depends on the size of each piece.)
5. Serve with soy sauce and calamansi

Chili Sauce:
Ingredients:

1/8 kilo Bird’s Eye Chili(Siling Labuyo), chopped(or chili paste)
2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
3 tablespoons sesame or cooking oil

Procedures:
1. Combine chillies and garlic then simmer for 20 minutes or till most of the water has evaporated.
2. Add sesame oil, simmer and stir well.
